| There's something so exciting about risk taking. |
you know that story about how jesus fed 5000 men, and well after that it says he told his disciples to go back to the boat and sail out into the river. but he stayed on shore and went up a mountain to pray; and then a massive storm hit and the disciples thought that they were going to die or something so he got up and went to the boat over the water to go help them. Peter saw him walking on water and was like "is that you? if it is, tell me to come to you" so jesus, because it was him, said "come to me" and peter jumped off the boat and walked on water toward jesus. and it was great for a while, until peter got scared of the big waves and the wind so he started sinking and he was like "jesus help me!" so jesus put out his hand and pulled peter up with him. and he says oh ye of little faith. yeah..
when i  was reading that i was like, wow. because it's so encouraging that the people that were with jesus all the time, the ones that were with him while he was on earth, still struggled with their faith, because the same strength and faith that jesus had, has been given to us, so why can't we just walk on water too? but then I reckon that jesus didn't look at the boat and think crap, there's water in my way, I better up my faith so I can cross and help my homeboys. I reckon he saw them struggling and was so full of compassion that he didnt even see the water and just started walking. driven by his compassion.
its funny being a christian now, and having to go into everything with a blind faith, and just believing. but it's cool, it teaches us more.
like when you look at a baby slash toddler that learning to walk, or has it's first steps. the mum's like twenty inches away and is just edging it on saying come on, come to mumma, come to mumma, and it takes one step and falls over but its okey, because the mum is there to help the baby back up again, and then she starts again saying it's okey, you're amazing, just come to mumma.. and then the toddlers feet just put one foot in front of the other. and before you know it, they're across the other side of the room!
it was a risk. we can fall but we have something bigger than a mother to pick us back up again.
he's not going to let us go through anything we can't handle, and he doesn't put us through things to punish us or to teach us a lesson.
he is our father.
he is the creator, not just creative.
